Pre-Neet
Provision
Working
in Partnership with Bedfordshire and Luton
Education Business
Partnership, this project will offer personalised
programmes to pre-NEET young people that meets
a range of abilities and needs – 120 individuals
in mid and north Beds and 120 in South Beds.
Prior to entry there will an assessment of
individuals needs using a range of diagnostic
assessment tools to help identity a genuinely
personalised programme of learning and support.
Regular support, advice and guidance are key
features of the programme.
Participants will
be involved in designing their own individual
learning plans which will include a mix of
personal and social development, functional
skills, personal thinking and learning skills,
work-related learning and enterprise education
and work experience.
Participants will be able
to choose from a number of different options
and these will include programmes in sport,
music, the arts, emotional intelligence, djing,
motorbike maintenance, outdoor pursuits, gardening,
ICT, construction, motor vehicle maintenance,
engineering and hair and beauty.
55% to be re-engaged into school or moved to
other appropriate
education
or training provision.

Way
to Work
Delivered in partnership with Bedford College, the
w2w programme has two vocational days at BTG
and a core day at Bedford College.
The vocational areas are within a broad based Construction programmes and a broad
based Motor Vehicle Programme. The w2w programme
at BTG looks at the following areas:
Motor Vehicle learners will be learning:
• Health & Safety
• Automotive Electrics
• Mechanical Assembly
• Bench Fitting
• Moving loads by Lifting and Slinging
Construction
learners will be learning:
• Health & Safety
• Plumbing
• Painting and Decorating
• Power Tools
• Woodwork
• Electrical Wiring
• Brickwork
• Moving Loads by Lifting and Slinging
The learners
may be able to change their pathway if a need
is identified. All tasters will lead to skill
builders which continue on from the taster
skills knowledge. The progression route following
the w2w programme can be a college course or
apprenticeship.
